After we bought the palazzo, we lay on the floor in the music room to look at the details in the ceilings-and to understand what we just bought. That spirit of curiosity has guided curatorial decisions, as they placed artworks in conversation with ornate interiors.

Artist Murugiah will be speaking about the process of creating his new slew of painted, oddball characters as part of his debut solo exhibition opening this month.

In many works, sturdy, almost sculptural nude women appear alongside children and dogs, suggesting an untamed intimacy. "It was so emotional and meaningful for everybody. [There] was like an excitement. But it was also super sorrowful at the same time," said Best.
